Puppy Contract

The Contract

All of the puppies placed from Brigadoon Goldens, are placed under a specific contract between the buyers and Brigadoon Goldens.  We reserve the right to modify and update the contract between litters as new practices are adopted and new information is made available.  Below, are the conditions upon which a Brigadoon puppy is placed.

Section 1: Buyer and Seller Information

Simple names, addresses and contact information for the both the buyer and the seller.

Section 2: Breeding Information

Puppy Breed: Golden Retriever
Gender: Male/Female
Color: approximate color of the puppy
Date of Birth: 
Litter AKC#: registered litter number
Puppy AKC#: included if the puppy is registered before going home
Sire Name and AKC#
Dam Name and AKC#

Section 3: Purchasing Information

Purchase Price: The total purchase price is $ (determined at time of breeding)
Deposit: The deposit of $xxx, which will be paid concurrently with the execution of this purchase agreement and shall be applied towards the purchase price of the puppy.
Shipping Expenses: In the event the puppy is to be shipped, the buyer shall be responsible for all associated costs including transportation to the airport, shipping crate, airfare, and vet certificate. The buyer must pay for puppy and shipping at least 3 days before shipment of the puppy to the buyer.
Registration: This puppy is being sold as a pet and companion animal. Registration for this puppy is limited as defined by the American Kennel Club. Limited registration can be lifted by agreement between buyer and seller and by completion of require medical tests by the buyer.

Section 4: Buyer Agreement

The seller has taken every care with breeding, rearing and the welfare of the puppy. The puppy is believed to be in good health and it is sold in good faith. The seller makes no warranty however as to the health or disposition of the puppy, other than below.

The best possible care has been taken to breed the healthiest dogs possible with pedigrees indicating years of good genetic health history. We are constantly researching pedigrees and striving to only breed the best. Genetic testing to screen for possible issues has been done and proof can be provided upon request.

The puppy has been inspected by a practicing Veterinarian prior to the sale and the details have been passed to the buyer.

The puppy is guaranteed for a period of two years from date of birth against hereditary Heart defects. A refund of 50% will be issued upon verification by a letter to the Breeder or Breeder’s Veterinarian from a Board Certified Cardiologist stating that in his/her opinion this condition is congenital.

The puppy is guaranteed for a period of two years from date of birth against hereditary Eye defects. A refund of 50% will be issue upon verification by a letter to the Breeder or Breeder’s Veterinarian from a Board Certified Ophthalmologist stating that in his/her opinion this condition is congenital.

Transportation, Veterinary and Medical care and its associated costs are the sole and exclusive responsibility of the Buyer.

Section 5: Return Information

The buyer will have the puppy examined by a practicing Veterinarian within on week of departure from the breeder and shall have the right during a period not exceeding 30 days after such examination to return the puppy because of a defect (other than described below) on production of a written report from the Veterinarian, at which time the buyer will be refunded the full purchase price.

The buyer hereby acknowledges that the seller has disclosed the following faults or defects in the puppy: (noted faults)

Breeder reserves the right to have the puppy/dog examined by our Veterinarian, acquire DNA testing or check microchip to determine the dog or puppy is one of our lineage and heath status before issuing a refund.

Should it become necessary, the buyer should be aware that the return of a puppy can be very difficult, especially emotionally and having drawn the attention of the buyer to this, the seller cannot be held responsible for any distress caused by the return of the puppy.

Section 6: Potential of Dog

Although any description of the Dog as being of show or trial quality is given in good faith, it is a condition of this sale that no warranty can be given as to the ultimate show / working / field trial or breeding potential on maturity of the Dog.

Section 7: Restrictions

As stated above, the puppy is being sold on a Limited Registration with the AKC. The Limited status of the registration can be lifted by the seller upon agreement between the buyer and the seller and the completion , at the buyer’s expense, the following medical clearances.  Copies of the clearances must be submitted to the seller.

  3. Heart
  4. Eyes
  5. Ichthyosis
  6. NCL

Section 8: Rehoming of the Dog

The buyer agrees that if, at any stage in the Dog’s life, the buyer needs to rehome the Dog, the seller will be the first to be informed and the buyer will, if the seller requests, return the Dog to the seller. The seller will offer every reasonable assistance to find a new home.

Returning the Dog to the seller for purposes of rehoming does not qualify the buyer for refund of any of the purchase price of the Dog.

Declaration by Buyer: I/We confirm that I/We have read this contract in full prior to the purchase and I/We fully understand its purpose and reason. I/We also confirm that I/We are purchasing this puppy for myself/ourselves and not as agents for a third party.

Seller Signatures:
